Requirements

Education:

Applicants must have a vocational qualification in mechanical and metalwork engineering. Depending on the specific job role, experience in sheet metal and heavy plate work, CNC machining and programming, as well as manual lathe and milling machine operation may be required.

Experience:

At least two years of experience in the metal industry is required. Experience in specific manufacturing methods and materials (steel, stainless steel, aluminum) is an advantage. Additionally, experience in industrial manufacturing, machining, or sheet metal and structural work may be required depending on employer criteria.

Certifications:

Applicants must hold the following valid certificates:

  • Occupational Safety Card (Työturvallisuuskortti)
  • Hot Work Permit (Tulityökortti)
  • Crane Operator Card (Nosturikortti) – If the job involves crane operation
  • Forklift License (Trukkikortti) – If the job involves forklift operation
  • Electrical Work Safety Certificate (Sähkötyöturvallisuuskortti) – Required for electromechanical work
  • CNC Programming Certifications – Required for CNC machinists

Safety and Additional Training:

The Finnish metal industry has strict safety standards. Workers must be familiar with:

  • Proper use of tools and machinery
  • Quality requirements and measuring instruments
  • Technical drawing reading skills

Language Skills

Finnish

The necessity and level of Finnish language proficiency will be evaluated individually by the applicant and employer.

English

Applicants must have good English language skills.

Skill assesment and Testing

Employers may require applicants to complete a professional skills test in their home country to verify basic competencies before progressing in the recruitment process.

Additionally, before starting work in Finland, applicants may need to complete a new practical work test in accordance with employer requirements and metal industry standards.
